Saturday was a relaxing day for the most part. We hung out outside when it wasn’t raining, and took a bunch of photos in an old apple tree that has fallen down but lives on.
Calvin wanted to eat the apple Victor was playing with, but found out that unfortunately, it was still a little sour.
That evening Victor and I attended Amy’s bridal shower/bachelorette! It was a little colder than we expected, and we were rained out of the outdoors for part of it, but it was lots of fun and Victor saw a couple other aunties for the first time since Christmas!

BC Holiday: Day 7
Friday morning I had the chance to hang out with another best friend of mine, Christine! It’s always exciting to hear what’s going on in her life.
After that, I brought Tim to the ferry so he could go bachelor-partying all weekend long with the boys, and I went with my parents to the family cabin on Hatzic Lake. I love the quiet there, and I knew that Calvin would have a blast with all the space to run around. Both boys got to go on the ride on mower with Grandpa, which is a kind of rite of passage at the cabin. Then Calvin tried out the tire swing!

BC Holiday: Day 4
On Canada Day, we, my parents, and my brother’s family went to the festivities at the Langley Events Center. It was hot, and crowded, and we left to have lunch at McDonald’s instead of eating from the various food trucks and stands.
When we got home, we hung out in the sunshine and also inside. It was fun to teach my nieces some new games!
Everybody stuck around for supper, and my Oma and her husband also came out!

BC Holiday: Day 3
Monday, my mom, sister and I went to IKEA in the morning. You can tell how excited Victor was by the blurs.
In the afternoon, I went and hung out at Rosie’s place. We picked some of her delicious raspberries.
And Victor tried to make friends with her cats.

BC Holiday: Day 2
Sunday was a family day for us. My entire family, with the exception of my nephew, went to the zoo to enjoy some animals and eachother’s company.
The best part of the visit was the hippo feeding time. Those guys are enormous!
When we got home later, we had a light dinner together, and Calvin spent the evening playing “yocca” with “gampa”.

BC Holiday: Day 1
Our first full day in BC. A few weeks before, I had contacted my cousins to see if they could all get together one day while we were here. I hadn’t seen them since last summer! Saturday worked the best for most people, and we had a lovely time catching up.
Aunty Amy
As you may or may not know, Amy has been living with us since the end of April. Last night was her last night here with us. Tim and I took advantage of that and went for a late evening walk. I don’t remember the last time we did that, and it reminded me of our dating and engaged months of Tim walking me back to my place from his. Only Millwoods is nowhere near as cool as the Rockland area of Victoria. I digress.
It has been so special to have Amy with us. It was such a unique opportunity to get to know our future family member! When I was little, we also had a couple of my uncles stay with us at different times. It was fun, and though I don’t have many memories from those times, I’m sure it was very rewarding.
While it wasn’t all sunshine and happiness (because it never is when you stick people in a house together), it was mostly wonderful! Calvin sure loved it. It was funny listening to him knock very maturely on her door and call her name in as many different summoning tones as he knew, which is quite a few, actually.
There was lots of quality time spent together.
While we will miss having you around, Amy, we know that you are on to much great things. We can’t wait to celebrate your marriage with you in just a few short weeks!
